Imagine if a typically crotchety old person were to come out of his house shaking his cane and yelling, "Dammit you kids better stay on my lawn!"

Wouldn't you be thoroughly confused? Shock and amaze your friends by occasionally switching up the intonation of your voice, or change key words in your phrases to deliver unexpected surprises.

For example, try saying in a very questioning and hesitant voice, "I dunno... I think that sounds like a pretty great idea." Please note that your voice should subtly rise an octave while saying "idea", as if to claim further doubt, even though you're actually confirming your friend's plan to rob the local convenience store!
